1992 Doisy Vedrines - Sauternes
Barsac, Bordeaux,
France
1992 Doisy Vedrines : we started dinner with a grilled duck magret with a
delicate Sauternes and honey sauce. One of my friends wanted to
taste the
1992 Doisy-Vedrines that he had originally bought for his daughter's birth date: 1992 (Sauternes was eventually the best possible choice in this mediocre
vintage). The colour is pretty dark for a 9 years old Sauternes. Roasted bread, pineapple,
soft spice. The wine is
round in mouth, a bit too sugary and not much
botrytis. Not very long either. Everyone admitted it wasn't fair for this wine to be evaluated after the outstanding samples of Sauternes 1997. A decent wine but limited ageing potential (2008-2015) 85/100.
